“When that 'I don’t know' plunges off the head into the heart, the philosopher dies and the mystic is born." This Swedenborg and Life original series seeks to find answers about this life from the afterlife. In this episode, host Curtis Childs from the Swedenborg Foundation and featured guests take ten questions from viewers and provide insights with the help of eighteenth-century scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg’s spiritual writings.

Ten viewer questions featured in this episode:
- Is anger evil? And how do we combat anger issues?
- If God did not create the hells, then who created it?
- Does Swedenborg write about other types of intelligent life in the universe, like humans? I wonder if extraterrestrials would also be spirits just like us, and exist with us in the afterlife.
- So are we constantly being judged? And if so, is it for our own good out of love?
- What does "we are saved by grace" mean according to Swedenborg?
- So is the most recent Last Judgment the last last judgment or will there be others?
- If God is love itself, then why does he want to be praised high and worshipped?
- Did ES talk about taking the Bible literally or more by symbolism?
- What does Swedenborg think has gone wrong with the Trinity when someone tries to mass murder people?
- When I seek counsel for something, to seek if it’s a wrong or right thing to do, who do I know who’s voice is guiding me?

Who’s the Host?
Curtis Childs is the digital media producer at the Swedenborg Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to spread eighteenth-century philosopher Emanuel Swedenborg’s timeless message of hope to all. While obtaining his degree in communication studies from Oakland University, Curtis experienced an internal battle with depression that led him to question God, existence, and his lifelong interest in Swedenborgian theology. After a period of intense suffering, he recovered from his depression with the help of modern medicine, therapy, and a return to the spiritually uplifting messages he found in Swedenborg’s writings. Now, Curtis is applying his education and desire to help others find peace through Swedenborg’s insights by producing and hosting a weekly webcast called Swedenborg and Life on the offTheLeftEye YouTube channel.
